Ode to "Harry the Hudson Dog"

Our GNB blogmeister Sherwood Martinelli fell out of bed inspired this morning in reply to a string of posts by "Harry the Hudson Dog" on a Journal News website thread. Harry has been tracking and harrassing nearly every single anti-nuclear blogger on the Internet going on for years now, quietly sitting pretty while petting his cat Dr. Evil, using a multitude of pseudonyms, lambasting the likes of Paul Gunter of NIRS, Lisa Rainwater of Riverkeeper, Sherwood and myself. He once posted a picture of yours truly on one of his fake blogs sporting a Hitler moustache. Quite endearing actually, if not so scary.
We are sure the NRC and Entergy know who this man is, and yet they refuse to reveal his name to us, sanctifying his actions from the shadows. We are asking everyone to be on the lookout for Harry the Hudson Dog. We really like this guy... he's smart, funny, witty... has helped us considerably in fact... we'd like to shake his hand, invite him out for a drink... but he's such a shy little dog... won't come out of his hole. Post subject: We need to help Harry the Dog

New Voice:

What we see, is that "Harry the Hudson Dog" (AKA Garrion, Harrydog and others) needs our compassion, and our help. This former Indian Point worker is obssessed with stalking any one that speaks negatively about his dearly beloved, aging, leaking, embrittled nuclear reactors. His last singular goal in life is a singular focus filled with hate. Traversing the internet looking into his various postings and hate blogs, it is obvious the man needs some serious counseling. Couple this obsession with his Catholic upbringing and faith, and it is obvious he in some misguided way sees himself as the Jesus of the Pro Nuclear camp.
Rather than hate "Harry the Hudson Dog", the anti-nuclear groups should work to get him the help he so desparately needs. We could start a fund raising effort to open up the "Save Harry the Hudson Dog Foundation". Maybe even broaden the scope of our efforts.
After all, when you really look at Jim Steets insipid remarks to the press, it is obvious the man has issues. Perhaps we could help Jim to find a heart, and perhaps a soul...sort of a modern day Tin Man like the "Wizard of Oz". Looking at Jim Steets, gazing back to the tragic murder/suicide earlier this year when an Entergy employee went whacko jacko, it is obvious someone needs to step in and offer these folks some help.
Imagine Bumper Stickers showing up all over Westchester County, "Save Harry the Hudson Dog, Close Indian Point", or "Save Steets, Just Say No to License Renewal." We could even film a one hour documentary of our efforts to save these two, air it on PBS with funding by Exxon.
Poetic justice in motion, Harry and Bob walking their Springer Spaniel along the Hudson River as we borrow a page right out of Entergy's propaganda play book. Camera's zooming in for a close up of the two walking hand in hand in their rainbow colored anti-nuclear T-shirts made from 100 percent all natural hemp. Something Bob Dylan carrying us to one last commercial from their friends at Exxon...GOD, makes you want to cry.
Who knows, it could spawn a whole new "Twelve Step Program" . Hello, my name is Patrick Moore, and I am a nuclear addict. We could open up the "Jebb Bush-Christine Todd Whitman" Nuclear Addiction Treatment Center, and make Norris McDonald its Executive Director, which might be just enough to pull in NY AREA as a major donor to the project. Our first high visibility patient Paul Newman...sure someone at some TV network would be super anxious to do a reality based TV program on all this. Entergy, Exelon and even NEI workers vying to get a spot on the show, and thus treatment in the Nuclear Addiction Center for FREE! They could all compete for a internship at Greenpeace where their healing could continue on.
The relicensing process is fixed. Read Green Nuclear Butterfly to understand how.

NRC's GREAT WHITE LIE-We Are Safe From A Nuclear Incident

Will this man from DOE save your life, or let you die?
Indian Point, Entergy, Patrick Moore (traitor to Greenpeace), Christine Todd Whitman, CASEnergy, the nuclear industry, their lobbying arm NEI and the NRC are spending millions in public relations dollars to convince us that a Nuclear Renaissance if the way to solve Global Warming, and as a part of that great lie, they routinely tell us that we are safe. No IMMEDIATE danger, the odds of a terrorist attack, and/or a significant nuclear incident at a nuclear reactor site are so low as to make it hardly worth the risk of consideration. It's a nice little WHITE LIE told by people living in nice little homes far away from said aging and brittling reactors as they try to do what is best for big business, rather than do what is necessary to protect human health and the environment...either for money, or stupidity, it seems that even the wind industry (AWEA, ACE NY) has bought into this lie, and is prepared to sell their soul for a few pieces of silver and some S&H Green Stamps. The problem is, it is a lie, and the NRC knows it.

If as the NEI and the NRC would have us believe, nuclear reactors are so safe from attack, why is our government spending billions in protecting against an attack, and preparing our emergency responders for the worst? I'd encourage all of your to spend some time browsing the DOE's Oak Ridge Institutes REAC/TS site. If you spend a bit of time there, you'll find some rather disturbing information that should make you think three or four times about the safety of reactor sites.

REAC/TS opening statement of purpose got my attention right away:

The REAC/TS mission for DOE is two-fold:

Provide 24/7 availability to deploy and provide emergency medical services at incidents involving radiation anywhere in the world.

Provide advice and consultation on radiation emergency medicine from its Oak Ridge, Tenn., headquarters or at the scene of an incident.

Additionally:

REAC/TS is identified in Section 501 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 as a response organization and member of DOE's Nuclear Incident Response Team.

REAC/TS is identified in DOE Order 5530 as the organization that provides medical assistance to DOE's Accident Response Group and the Federal Radiological Monitoring and Assessment Center (FRMAC).

This does not sound like a group who thinks the likelihood of an attack and/or nuclear incident is slim to none. Instead, it sounds like they think there is a very good chance of such and event. It describes its response teams as follows:

REAC/TS maintains specialized response teams to ensure our readiness to respond. Each team consists of a physician, nurse/paramedic, and a health physicist—all cross-trained in the details of managing a radiation emergency.

They finish off their introduction with a very alarming note that their teams were deployed immediately after 9/11 so they were ready to deal with further attacks that might involve nuclear materials. If as the NRC states, the likelihood of a terrorist attack is so small, then why did DOE immediately deploy these teams to New York, and other areas of the nation?

REAC/TS was also immediately deployed following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States as part of DOE's Consequence Management Response Team. The team stood ready to respond in the event that additional terrorist acts immediately following Sept. 11 involving nuclear materials.

Once you have read through this introduction, suggest you spend some time reading the Hospital Triage in the First 24 Hours After a Nuclear or Radiological Disaster pdf file. This document is NOT for the faint of heart. From the get go, REAC/TS dispels the nuclear industry claim that a nuclear event and/or incident is unlikely with this statement:

Sadly, today’s international environment is such that the real possibility exists that emergency department personnel might have to deal with not just one or two victims of a radiation accident, but overwhelming numbers injured in a malevolent act. Table 1 provides information about types of catastrophes involving radiological or nuclear materials.

...If radioactive atoms enter cells, they are said to be “incorporated.” As long as radioactive materials are on or in a person, the person is being irradiated. Contamination does not cause symptoms, unless the contaminants are corrosive, toxic, or thermally hot. However, note that fission product fallout (i.e., from a nuclear weapon or nuclear reactor core damage) should be brushed off the skin and clothing as soon as possible, since it can be highly radioactive. Caregivers should use strict isolation precautions (including wearing cap, mask, gown, shoe covers, and double gloves) when handling contaminated victims, and gloves should be changed frequently to avoid cross contamination.

Further, this document lays bare the NRC lie that the aftermath of such and event would be a nice neat and orderly evacuation plan. Instead, this document paints a picture of chaos, death, and some of us being left unattended medically, sentencing us to a slow agonizing death of cancer. Here are a few high lights:

1. Except for victims of serious trauma, decontamination can be
accomplished prior to admission to hospital emergency care. Uninjured individuals do
not require hospitalization unless they are vomiting, have diarrhea, or have conventional reasons for seeking emergency care.

2. During
the first 24 hours, those who are not injured (but are suspected of being internally
contaminated) should be advised to seek assistance from public health authorities. Public health authorities may recommend excreta collection and/or lung or whole body counts.

3. Request extra security for the emergency department. Be aware that a terrorist could be among the victims. Request police assistance for traffic and crowd control, assistance with gathering evidence, etc.

4. Patients who are incapacitated because of vomiting, diarrhea or shock might be
contaminated on arrival at the hospital. Removal of clothing and decontamination should be accomplished at the earliest opportunity.

5. If there is a history of loss of consciousness or evidence of cerebral edema or other CNS abnormality not due to physical trauma or stress, with a history of early vomiting (within minutes) and diarrhea, the victim’s dose is likely greater than 15 Gray. Long term survival is unlikely, since multiorgan failure will ensue.

6. Radiation does not cause immediate life-threatening problems. Serious injury
takes priority over concerns about contamination. (So what if being left untreated sentences you to a slow death from cancer.)

7. Trauma or burn victims in serious or critical condition after initial stabilization, who have also been determined to be significantly irradiated (based on accident history, history of early vomiting, diarrhea, early elevated temperature, erythema, elevated serum amylase in first 24 hours)should be given palliative/compassionate care. (In short, you are DEAD, and will not even get a chance to say goodbye to your family.)

8. However, with the real threat of nuclear/radiological terrorism, an emergency department staff may be overwhelmed by individuals requiring or seeking medical attention after a malevolent act.

Now, how vital, safe and secure do you really think Entergy's failing reactors are? How secure in Indian Point's evacuation plan are you now. Remember, the hardest hit in a nuclear reactor incident and/or terrorist attack will be A) the disabled,B) your CHILDREN, and C) the elderly (Grandma and Grandpa). Ask yourselves, "Do you really want to risk another 20 years of Indian Point?" If not, you have to plug in,have to join the growing number of activists that will do whatever it takes to shut this plant down.

Where Is Summer Rayne Oakes and The Green Muffkateers In The Anti Nuclear Fight To Close Down Entergy's Indian Point and Their Leaking Reactors?

I can hear the feminist crying foul over the title, but sorry, the glass ceiling has been broken, and Nancy Pelosi took a sledge hammer to the marble one above that when she became Madam Speaker of the House. Move over Ralph Nader, as your days as the next Green Party Presidential Candidate are over! Perhaps the Environmental Movement and Green Drinks can convince Oprah to accept the nomination, and George Clooney can zip around America in his Tango giving speeches as her 2008 Vice Presidential running mate.

There's a Presidential ticket sure to get media attention, and carry the vote of the entire Grassroots community! After all, even Vanity Fair has done a Green Issue, and being environmentally friendly and concerned is the Green Wave to the future. In short, women are deciding all on their own, that they can use their sensuality and sexuality along with their brains as they brand themselves and build financial empires in the process. Perhaps nowhere is this reality and societal paradigm shift more prevalent than in the Green Fashion/Products industry where supposed Green Eco Chicks and Eco Babes wrap themselves up in the Ecology Flag and claim the title of Green Goddess.

We have a veritable army of 20 and 30 somethings trying to cash in on the Green Movement, and there is nothing wrong with Green Capitalism. However, to claim GREEN, to wrap yourself in the ecology flag as Earth Saving, Global Warming fighting Warrior of change out to save the world, you have to WALK THE TALK, have to make Green business decisions, and cannot sleep with, be business partners with those that are raping Mother Earth in the name of corporate bottom lines and improved profit projections.

Though there are numerous examples of this corruption of the Green Movement, no better example exists than the Nuclear Industry's attempts to steal the entire Green Movement as their own, as the NEI, CASEnergy and companies like Exelon and Entergy push for a Nuclear Renaissance with the false promise that nuclear power is the safe, vital GREEN answer to Global Warming, and the Birth Mother of the Hydrogen Economy as mini me, Greenpeace traitor "Patrick Moore" and his evil side kick Cruella DeVille, "Christine Todd Whitman" use the corrupted cash of the NEI to travel around the country as CASEnergy, singing the praises of the most earth damaging waste producers ever known to mankind, the Nuclear Industry.

Many of our finest young well meaning Green Entrepreneurs are being enticed with much needed capital investments from these corporate villains, beautiful young souls in the Green Movement seduced over to the dark side with 35 five pieces of silver, and the promise of wealth and fame in the coming Nuclear Renaissance. Look at Seth Leitman and his ETS Energy Store...just how did it come about that this seemingly educated GREEN Guy and EV fan end up partnering with BGA Engineering who has extensive business dealings with the Indian Point nuclear reactors that are dumping millions upon millions of gallons of irradiated waste waters into the Hudson River on a yearly basis.

Surely super Green Chick and self proclaimed Green Goddess Summer Rayne Oakes cannot believe dumping 2.4 billion gallons of 100 degree water into the Hudson River is good for the aquatic population, so why is she paired up with Seth, defacto embracing ETS Energy Store as a Earth Friendly Green Source for all of our Green Product desires? Is there some secret Trilateral Commission agenda between these three odd bedfellows wherein BGA Engineering at the appropriate time and place is going to come out against Indian Point after realizing they could earn far more money decommissioning these aging, brittling reactors than they could ever earn in helping to keep these ticking time bombs up and running?

So far, dirty politics, incestuous relationships between DOE, NRC, NEI and the Nuclear Industry have seen 50 of the 104 ancient failing nuclear reactors relicensed for 20 more years of operation as the Nuclear Industry plays Russian Roulette with the lives of 50 percent of America as host communities are forced and coerced to live in fear because of a false promise of a Green Nuclear Renaissance giving birth to Rosemary's Baby, a demon's spawn world destroyer pretending to be the Great Nuclear Driven Hydrogen Economy with a Green Electric Vehicle in every driveway...HELLO Joe DiMaggio, our nation needs you more than you can know, and someone please send out the word to the Eco Chicks hiding out on the West Coast, we need you as Heroines to save us from ourselves once again.

Bring on the Green Muffkateers, a full battalion of hot, sassy, self assured green vixens, their OMNIpotent presence ready to right wrongs as Betcee May Greens Up Penthouse, and Summer Rayne Oakes starts putting together the E-Team. In a play on the old 70's sitcom, I can see Cherokee Cher of "Silkwood" fame playing a more visible Charlie's Angel role, great Den Mother of a pack of fierce Green female Champions as they set out to slay the nuclear dragon.

She could perhaps be joined by the likes of Goldie Hawn (she's always struck me as the consummate earthy woman) and Demi Moore (who just happens to live right down the road from the Idaho National Labs, where Seth Leitman published his indictment of the Th!nk EV program, which almost crushed the entire Ford Th!nk EV fleet before the king of Norway himself had to step in!) who would look so hot dressed in gladiator's garb, shaved bald (a la G.I. Jane) as she led a dazzling array of Tangos and Tesla roadsters in a wild cross country Mad Max's meets Cannonball Run/Rama Road Rally treck across America to the entrance of Indian Point.

For old times sake we could throw Burt Reynolds a cameo appearance sitting at the Man Law Round Table complaining that he was not invited, which might allow us to bring in Miller Beer as a corporate sponsor as we set about greening the entire alcoholic beverage industry as a part of the deal...bring on the Clydesdale's for a spot on ethanol fuel as a part of the renewable stock portfolio.

We need Elmer Fudd to save our children from the nuclear industry's propaganda with another brilliantly done operatic educational piece as he turns to the audience and says, "Be very very quiet, we are hunting nuclear weactors." Maybe we can ask Angela Lindvall, Victoria's Secret supermodel, to play the part of Dorothy, a cute pooch by her side ready to pull aside the velvet curtain to expose Riverkeeper as the great pretender to the anti-nuclear throne that they are.

Sadly, many citizens in host communities around aging reactors such as Millstone, Pilgrim, Vermont Yankee and others such as my own Indian Point see this organization as the great white horse ready to ride in and help us in our just and noble cause...FORGET ABOUT IT FOLKS! At best, Riverkeeper and some of the other groups like them are NUCLEAR AMBIVALENT, neither for or against nuclear, but playing both sides to the middle to keep the donations pouring in.

The Riverkeeper board has both pro and anti nuclear members, and in an unholy alliance signed by the devil, these two opposing forces co-exist through a game of smoke and mirrors where Riverkeeper will not call for the closing of unsafe reactors, but will allow its members to pursue Nuclear Licensees if they can prove they are polluting our rivers and killing aquatic life.

However, in their pursuit of these crimes against humanity and our environment, these anti nuke warriors cannot actually state that Riverkeeper calls for the closing of a nuclear facility...call Lisa Rainwater on the phone, and sure she will quickly assure you she is anti nuclear, which usually sees most people, and the media jump to the conclusion that Riverkeeper is anti nuclear, and wants to see Indian Point closed down...not neccessarily true, and you are encouraged the ask her the all important follow up question:

"Yes Lisa, I understand you are anti nuclear and want to see Indian Point closed, but is Riverkeeper anti nuclear, are they willing to publicly call for the closure of Indian Point, Vermont Yankee, Pilgrim, Millstone and other aging nuclear reactors that are doing tremendous damage to our nation's rivers and their tributaries?" Better yet...does Riverkeeper directly or indirectly receive money from the nuclear industry, and those who support it.

Has anyone called up J.K. Rowling to see if Harry Potter is anti nuclear? Sure here, that Lord Voldermort would work for the NEI, but over all, cannot see this woman going over to the dark side, so we have to find a major role for her in this production! Sure she could come up with a great character, a woman of noble magic mixed blood who will do battle with the wicked witch as Betcee and company scale the walls to confront the two headed dragon known as Indian Point reactors 2 and 3.
We need our youth in the Grassroots of the Green Movement to WAKE UP to the truth that nuclear never was, and can never be the safe, vital, green energy that the Nuclear Industry Spin Miesters, Hill & Knowlton and Burson-Marsteller, want us to see it as. We need the Summer Rayne Oakes and Betcee May of the Green Fashion/Products industry to realize they cannot sit on the nuclear fence eating out of the hands of both sides in this war for our Mother Earth. It is time to pick a side and prepare for the fight, as the planet, our planet's future is being held in the balance. So Green Industry, what is it going to be? Are you a tofu Green Barbie or Ken doll looking pretty, but having no substance, or are you the stuff of legends, a warrior worthy of a major part in the epic battle of our time? The Earth's very existence may depend on the choice you make in the next days and weeks, as the lines are drawn in the sand.

Did Entergy KILL A Family? Lessard Murder Suicide Raises UGLY QUESTIONS

This Woman Was Killed By Her Husband, Steven Lessard...Could Entergy Have PREVENTED IT?
Imagine the shock and horror in quaint Peekskill Lake as the residents learned that a very well known and respected employee of Entergy's Indian Point Nuclear Plants in Buchanan, New York had killed his wife and daughter before taking his own life...more importantly, what signs did Entergy miss on February 8th, 2007 that could have saved the lives of these innocent victims of Steven Lessard's great agnst and anger? We might never known the full hideous truth behind this local murder/suicide, but it is obvious that the NRC needs to open up a full fledged investigation into the issues surrounding the Indian Point/Lessard MURDERS!

Perhaps the stress of working within the confines of Entergy's failing Indian Point Reactors was too much for the normally quiet 51-year-old U.S. Naval Academy graduate, and he just SNAPPED...or perhaps something far more SINISTER was/is at play? His behavior on February 8th, 2007 was ODD ENOUGH to capture the attention of his fellow employee, caustic enough for them to bring his behavior to the attention of his immediate superiors...whatever occurred, Entergy kept it SECRET, hid the horrid truth of his actions from authorities who might have been able to save Steven Lessard's life. Perhaps if Entergy had not been so secretive about Indian Point and it's incestuous family of workers, authorities could have intervened, could have saved the innocent lives of Steven's wife and daughter!

We have all heard the recent reports of the leaked strontium 90, and tritium from the Indian Point plant, have heard about the leaking spent fuel pools...what if what we have here is NOT a murder/suicide? What if Steven Lessard was about to become a major whistle blower, and someone needed him silenced, like the lambs? What if there was some kind of a RELEASE at the site that affected Mr. Lessard? So many questions that the public NEEDS answers to, yet will we come up against a wall of silence, will Entergy close ranks and keep the events surrounding February 8th forever silent and hidden from public review?

MURDER-SUICIDE: Father was placed on leave for irrational behavior
By Greg Clary
The Journal News
(Original Publication: February 20, 2007)

http://www.nynews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070220/UPDATE/702200410

BUCHANAN - Steven Lessard, the killer in the Putnam murder-suicide case, first showed some irrational behavior at his Indian Point job on Feb. 8, when co-workers noticed that he seemed to be unusually upset about his car getting a flat tire.

The normally quiet 51-year-old U.S. Naval Academy graduate didn't routinely generate much notice among his co-workers, said a spokesman for Entergy Nuclear Northeast, which owns and operates the plant.

But that day, he was visibly upset about what he had to do to get his car back on the road, and it triggered the other members of his 12-employee project management group to notify their supervisor, Michael Rutkoske.

"We're trained and required to do that," said Entergy spokesman Jim Steets. "It was a relatively minor personal issue, so after talking to his supervisor, the two of them went up to speak to the fitness for duty coordinator."

Sharon Quinn, a registered nurse, spent 90 minutes with Lessard and Rutkoske and they all agreed that Lessard should go home until he felt better. Steets said he continued to be paid during his time off.

"She offered him help through our employee assistance program, but he declined," Steets said. "He said he was seeing a doctor. She even asked him if he were comfortable with that doctor and he said he was."

Lessard was due today to speak to Entergy officials about returning to work, a day after authorities discovered that he had strangled his wife, Kathy Lessard, 48, and their 14-year-old daughter Linda, and then killed himself in their family home in Putnam Valley.

Indian Point officials said Lessard had been transferred at his own request from an engineering job at Indian Point 2 to a project management position that served the entire nuclear site.

At the time of his leave, he was working on a piping upgrade to serve Indian Point 2 and Indian Point 3. He did not operate any equipment or deal with any safety-related procedures, officials said.

Rutkoske said early this afternoon that Lessard was "a very dedicated worker" who had come under Rutkoske's supervision in October.

"He was relatively quiet," Rutkoske said. "Very much interested in following proper processes and procedures."

When the flat tire problem upset Lessard so much, Rutkoske said he knew it had something under it that was the real cause of his agitation.

"It just meant to me that there were other things going on, if a car tire was getting him upset," the supervisor said.

Rutkoske said Lessard wasn't the kind of guy who mixed a lot with co-workers and ate his lunch alone most of the time. He said he hadn't heard anything about possible domestic troubles.

Lessard's co-workers were concerned enough about him that they took up a collection and sent him a basket of fruit while he was on medical leave. His wife even called up to thank the workers for their thoughtfulness and said he was doing better, company officials said.

"He had no performance issues, and when they asked him about lightening his load, he didn't want to do that because he didn't want to burden his co-workers," Steets said. "The feeling was that he was very hard on himself. But he was considered a 'valuable contributor,' which is a category of employee rating that the company uses."

Lessard had come to the site in 1995 as an employee of General Physics, an engineering contractor. He was given a routine psychiatric evaluation and background check at the time. The background check was updated as required in 2003, with no visible problems, Steets said. He had been hired full time by Con Edison in 2001, right before the plants were sold to Entergy.

"The background check can often turn up outside stresses, such as financial," he said. "But none showed up."

Steets said the company would review all of Lessard's work, "given what's occurred," but didn't expect to find any problems. (Forget reviewing Lessard's work, how about MAKING IT PUBLIC?)

"There's no reason to think there would be anything wrong with his work," Steets said. "And he wasn't working on any critical things." (Why does Steets feel compelled here to assure us that Lessard was not working on ANYTHING critical?)
